Natural Hair Diary: Qiyamah Singletary, Entrepeneur

After years of relaxers and heat-styling, Qiyamah decided to go natural in October 2009. Instead of transitioning, she chopped her locks to a quarter of an inch. "In order for me to embrace my natural texture, getting rid of the chemically treated hair was a must," she says, adding that the new look was a hit with her family and friends. "I actually influenced my mom and cousin to go natural. My daughter has been natural for 7 years."

Qiyamah sees her natural hair as an expression of a holistic lifestyle. "I love rocking my fluffed-out 'fro, but going natural wasn't just about a hairstyle," she says. "It was also a major step in me embracing a lifestyle change. Healthy eating, exercise, prayer, and meditation are all incorporated in my daily life. Now, I'm more conscious of what I put into my body and my hair."

LACE WIGS!

Attention: Do You Want Your Hairline To End Up Like This?!?!?!?

Okay Ladies, I have to break it to you; Lace Wigs are NOT your friend. If you do not have a glam squad like Beyonce and Tyra Banks then LEAVE THE LACE WIGS ALONE!!! If you want to keep your Hairline; LEAVE THE LACE WIGS ALONE!

I understand the Lace Front gives you a sense of freedom and keeps you from styling your own hair everyday; but a Healthier Alternative is a full head weave with a closure of choice. With proper hair care, you can grow your hair into beautiful Tresses. Proper Conditioning is Key and keeping the hair lubricated with hair oils such as Argan Oil, Moroccan Oil, and my favorite Gueye Hair Oil is GREAT!

68th Golden Globe Awards - Hair Hits and Misses!

As we know the Golden Globe Awards were in town and our ladies of Hollywood have hit the red carpet with some hair hits and a few misses.

Halle Berry rocked her classic but sassy short cut which she wears very well .

Then we have Gabourey Sidibe who unfortunately was a hair miss. Her bangs weren't cut to frame her face and the style itself wasn't flattering at all. While Amber Riley wore the same hairstyle, she was given a bit more love when her hair was cut.

Sofia Vergara hit the red carpet with soft elegant waves. Her choice of hairstyle and dress shouted out Glam Hollywood.

While everyone else rocked they're hair in long loose curls, Eva Longoria, Shaun Robinson, Jennifer Lopez, and Alicia Keys all wore an elegant, sexy ponytail which showcased their Gorgeous features!
